 2018 Preview 


       T.R. Miller completed the 2017 season with a 5-5 record. Last year T.R. Miller just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region one with a 4-3 region record.

       The Tigers lost as many games as in any season since 2007.

       As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, T.R. Miller has gone a combined 72-23. Their 76.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 3A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, T.R. Miller has gone a combined 253-59. Their 81.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 3A and 4th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2007.




       The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Keith Etheredge as they enter the 2018 season.

       Coach Etheredge's overall record as a head football coach in twelve season stands at 119-44 (73.0%). His 119 wins rank 42nd among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Etheredge's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twelve times and won six region championships. He has a 33-10 record in the playoffs during his career. The playoff victories rank with the best among active coaches. Coach Etheredge won four state championships prior to arriving at T.R. Miller, the last coming in 2015 at .

       The T.R. Miller Tigers will play in Class 3A region one during the 2018 season. The Tigers have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 58-46 last season. That ranks 8th in Class 3A and 73rd in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. T.R. Miller missed the playoffs last year but have expectations of a return to the post season this year.

       The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Choctaw County on Friday, August 31 at Municipal Stadium. Last year the Choctaw County Tigers finished with an overall record of 1-8 and in seventh place in Class 2A region one. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Linden by a score of 60-0.

       T.R. Miller and Choctaw County have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 6-1-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2009 with T.R. Miller winning by a score of 40-14.

       T.R. Miller returns 3A All-State  kicker Matthew Morgan. He was named to the first team last season.
